This traditional lunch offers the experience to cook rice in a traditional way, using an old rice cooker (called "KAMADO") which is rarely seen in Japan now. It also comes with A5 RANKED HIDA BEEF and authentic local dishes prepared by local chef.
The lecturer for Kamado is a very experienced person who knows everything about Hida region.
Guests can enjoy lunch in the guest room of one of oldest houses in Hida with high cultural values.
Our legendary lecturer for Kamado experience, who is called "The Mother of Hida", will teach you how to cook rice in a traditional way.
Are you a professional chef?
Our lecturer is not a professional chef but a very experienced, 70-year old mother who knows everything unique to the region. She is the perfect person to teach you how to cook rice in a traditional way. On the other hand, lunch is prepared by a professional chef we collaborate with.
Where is the experience held and how can I go to your place?
The experience is held at one of the oldest houses called "Yoshiki no sato" which is about 10 min from Hida-Furukawa station by car. Please come to Hida Furukawa station by 10:45. Our staff will pick you up and bring to the house. It is best to take the 10:28 train from Takayama to Hida-Furukawa.
I need vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free products. Can I attend the experience?
We can accommodate any kind of requests such as vegetarian, vegan or gluten free.
Is there any age limit?
Basically only for adults. But we are flexible to arrange the tour for children.
